This talk show, presented under the umbrella title of "Sesame Street," discusses the plight of people afflicted with the AIDS disease and/or the HIV virus in South Africa. In this episode, host Fezile Mpela talks to three families in the studio, with each discusssion preceded by a film about how AIDS/HIV affected their lives. In the first segment, a woman realizes that she's been neglecting her teen-age daughter since she's also caring for a six-year-old grandson who is HIV-positive. After getting help from a social worker, the woman learns to balance her family responsibilities more equitably. In the second segment, an HIV-positive mother, who has infected her second husband with the virus, seeks the best way to tell her six-year-old daughter about her condition. In addition, she makes progress with an older daughter who has remained emotionally isolated from the family. In the final segment, a 17-year-old girl taking care of her four brothers learns how to make the younger boys aware of the fact that their mother died of AIDS.
